Head of Finance required for Leading Global Professional Services Organisation in Dublin 2

The FS Head of Finance works in collaboration with their business leaders and their finance teams in overseeing the organisation’s Financial Management and Reporting agenda. The candidate will drive commercial value and operational efficiencies across each Service Line, provide strategic insight into business performance and act as a main point of contact for the Leadership Team
This role will work closely with the COO and ensure he/she is able to drive the organisation forward without being inhibited by the operational management of the Finance agenda, and the support structures that go with them. In order to achieve this the FS Ireland Head of Finance will need to create strong personal relationships and networks throughout the partnership.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsibility for developing the annual financial plan for each business unit.
  • Design and maintenance of multi-year strategic workforce plans
  • Review forecast performance against plan on a weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual basis, and drive corrective action as appropriate
  • Ensure internal control systems and electronic finance systems are properly designed, functioning, and maintained on an ongoing basis to ensure complete and accurate recording of transactions and the integrity of financial reporting
  • Manage and develop financial reporting including monthly leadership meetings and annual Operations Statements to assist the firm's meeting of its financial objectives and targets
  • Develop budgets and monitor controllable overheads for the business, reviewing charges for reasonableness and against budget
  • Make recommendations to the Partner group on pricing and profitability of new and existing business
  • Lead monthly updates with the EMEIA CFO relating to the business’s financial performance.  Analyse the relevant MI and assist the SL Leads and OpEx Partners in recommending actions to be taken, and implementation of those actions.
  • Ensure the key performance metrics (e.g., EAF, margin, hours, headcount, rate, etc.) of the budgeting and headcount planning processes are approved and in line with the Business Unit guidelines
  • Enhance, prepare and review management information (e.g., headcount, utilisation, unexpected variances, revenue forecast and WCM etc.) to facilitate proactive management of the business and recommend appropriate action to the SL Leads and OpEx Partners
  • Work closely with UK and Ireland Finance counterparts and Service Line Operations Directors to ensure positive working capital performance.  Be an escalation point as required
  • Ensure the FSO Ireland’s Finance Function’s Operating Model is effective and implement changes where appropriate.
  • Manage a team of Operations Directors, Managers and Executives, including day to day supervision, counselling responsibilities and goal setting.
  • Ensure the Resourcing Function in each Service Line is operating effectively, and headcount is proactively managed to maximise profitability and goals of the firm
  • Ensure the engagement budgeting and resource planning processes run successfully and within agreed deadlines
  • Maintain oversight of the headcount planning and recruitment process for all ranks

Skills and attributes for success

  • The candidate will have a Professional Accounting Qualification
  • Experience in the Professional Services or Legal Sector a distinct advantage
  • A proven capability to operate at a strategic level, possessing the in-depth skills and expertise to manage the day-to-day finance operations.

  • Advanced communication, negotiation and influencing skills with the ability to convey a broad array of information concisely and accurately to senior leaders.
  • Integrity & discretion – can always handle highly confidential information with complete discretion (role holder will be privy to sensitive business information).
