This leading professional educational body in Dublin 2 are looking to hire a Trainee Accountant to join their finance team.

The Trainee Accountant supports the Accounts Team lead in the preparing of the management accounts for publication to the Finance Director.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Administration of the Creditors ledger and reconciliation of all Creditors statements on a monthly bases.
  • Any requests from the business to set up new Suppliers follow the correct process and ensure that all requirement have been correctly given to the accounts department.
  • Daily monitor incoming payments on the Global market platform and reconcile with accounts system. If required follow up with the third party IT solution any un- reconciled items.
  • Process cheque payments received from the teams and ensure the integration is complete. Lodge any cheques within one week of the processing date.
  • Complete the bank reconciliation in a timely manner and communicate to the other teams any payments received directly into the bank accounts. All banks reconciliations must be signed by the Finance director monthly. An explanation of outstanding items must be given.
  • Prepare Creditors monthly payment schedule for both EFT payments and Cheque payment. Ensure that the correct authorisation is in place and all supplier invoices have be processed through the company’s purchases system. Issues remittance by email.
  • Monthly posting of journals to include, Prepayments, Accruals, Depreciations and payroll journals
  • Prepare the management accounts and narrative to support the results. Investigate any variances to budget and flag any over spends. Meet with budget holders to ensure they are keeping to budget.
  • Complete Balance sheet reconciliation monthly and explain any un-reconciled figures.
  • Support the Team lead with the collection of Debtors, execution of the direct debts and the processing of step payments for each programme.
  • Assist in the preparation of the Statutory Annual Audit.

KEY SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCES

  • A third-level qualification (minimum NFQ6) or equivalent experience in accounting & finance.
  • A minimum of 1-2 years’ experience working in a similar role in industry or practice.
  • Proficiency with computers and a relevant accounting software package.
  • Familiarity with basic Accounting principles.
  • Professional manner and strong ethical code.
  • Ability to multitask and remain motivated and positive.
  • Ability to handle sensitive, confidential information.

Salary €30,000-€35,000 plus hols & bens package
