Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of those affected by dementia? We are working with The Alzheimer Society of Ireland (ASI) in seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to join them as the National Coordinator for their Dementia Adviser Service.

As a national non-profit organisation, they are committed to providing support and advocating for the rights of individuals living with dementia and their families across Ireland.

As the National Coordinator for the Dementia Adviser Service, you will play a crucial role in managing a team of dementia advisers who provide essential support to individuals concerned about cognitive health and those diagnosed with dementia, as well as their families and friends. This role offers the flexibility to be based nationwide, with travel required to regional and national meetings weekly, as well as to their national office in Blackrock, Co Dublin once a month.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the delivery of the Dementia Adviser Service, ensuring consistent quality and adherence to ASI policies and procedures.
  • Lead, mentor, and support a team of dementia advisers, facilitating their professional growth and development.
  • Collaborate with health and social care professionals to integrate the Dementia Adviser Service with existing and developing services.
  • Promote awareness of the service and build relationships with referral sources to increase demand.
  • Maintain quality standards through monitoring, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Have a primary degree or equivalent in a relevant health care area such as registered nurse, occupational therapy, or social work.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience managing health or social care services, preferably across multiple sites or geographic areas.
  • Proven track record in monitoring and reporting on service delivery against key performance indicators.
  • In-depth understanding of dementia and related issues, with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience in the community care sector and knowledge of safeguarding policies and legal aspects of working with vulnerable adults.
