Programme Executive – Innovation & International Research (Public Sector)

This is a hands-on, delivery-focused role supporting the development, coordination, and communication of major research and innovation programmes, connecting Irish stakeholders with international funding, collaboration opportunities, and policy priorities.
Location: Dublin or Cork
Contract: 18 months, full-time
Hybrid: Blended working available
Hours / Annual Leave: 35-hour week with 29 days annual leave
Salary: €52,026 p.a. (fixed, non-negotiable)
Key Responsibilities
- Support the coordination and delivery of national and international research and innovation programmes, acting as a central point of contact for internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Manage day-to-day programme operations, including planning cycles, stakeholder onboarding, programme enhancements, and ongoing delivery support.
- Contribute to the implementation of organisational research and innovation strategies, working cross-functionally to support long-term priorities.
- Provide end-to-end project management support across a portfolio of commissioned research initiatives and externally funded programmes.
- Support Ireland’s engagement with European and international research frameworks, funding mechanisms, and collaboration initiatives.
- Analyse, track, and report on programme performance, preparing high-quality reports, briefings, presentations, and data insights.
- Lead and support communications and dissemination activity, including events, workshops, stakeholder engagement, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
- Represent the organisation at national and international meetings, events, and working groups.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, academic institutions, industry partners, and public bodies to deliver innovative, high-quality programme outcomes.
- Support continuous improvement of programme processes, governance, and stakeholder experience.
About You – Essential Requirements
- A degree (NFQ Level 7 or higher) in a relevant discipline such as Engineering, Science, Economics, or an energy-related area.
- At least three years’ relevant experience in an energy-related role or in research programme administration/management.
- A strong understanding of energy technologies and national and European energy policy priorities.
- Proven project management experience delivering projects end-to-end across multiple stakeholders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience producing reports, presentations, and public-facing material.
- Strong analytical ability, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
- Well-developed IT skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint).
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams and manage competing deadlines.
Desirable
- Postgraduate or PhD-level qualification.
- Experience managing funded research projects or working within research consortia.
- Experience in technical analysis and evaluation of energy technologies or systems.
- Experience facilitating workshops, knowledge-sharing events, or stakeholder engagement activities.
- A strong commitment to delivering positive stakeholder experiences and outcomes.
