Lex Consultancy

Reporting to the Director, the Acting Head of Public Engagement will oversee and develop front of house, audience and visitor development strategies, manage teams in visitor experience, education, communication and digital services.

Key responsibilities

  • Drive engagement through all relevant departments which include Visitor Experience, Education, Marketing, Press / Media Relations, Website / Digital and work in collaboration with Collections and Research.
  • Deliver a premium visitor experience
  • Lead the development and implementation of an integrated and innovative marketing and engagement plan
  • Engage with audiences (nationally, internationally and digitally) through innovative communication and marketing initiatives that aim to enhance visitor growth and overall satisfaction
  • Coordinate all communication, digital and marketing activities
  • Foster cross-departmental working and co-operation
  • Oversee content and editorial management for the website
  • Implement an innovative and creative strategy for on-going social media and website content development
  • Oversee a media relations programme

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Proven ability to successfully manage, motivate and lead a multifunctional team
  • Successfully completed a third level qualification in marketing and communications or related disciplines
  • A broad business and / or commercial acumen underpinned by evidence of developing and delivering strategic objectives in one or more of these areas (marketing, communications, public relations)
  • Experience of working in a public engagement role (preferably in a similar environment) with staff management responsibilities
  • A broad interest in and knowledge of current and emerging trends in engagement initiatives in the cultural, heritage and arts sectors in Ireland and abroad
  • Proficiency in IT together with practical knowledge of social media and good presentation and written skills

Skills talent and abilities

  • Good project management experience with a proven track record of successfully managing marketing campaigns and / or public engagement projects to strict deadlines
  • Good commercial acumen, relationship management, problem solving, leadership and influencing skills together with resilience, drive and integrity
  • A highly motivated, inspiring and creative approach to attracting audiences in order to meet the specific public engagement strategic objectives
  • An innovative, enthusiastic and diplomatic approach to work coupled with excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • An enthusiasm and interest for working in an art and heritage cultural institution and a willingness to contribute to a positive working environment

Grade and salary: Salary will be €70,000 per annum (pro-rata)

Duration: 6/9 months’ temporary post

Working hours: Full time, 5 days a week - 37 hours per week (net of breaks) onsite and/or remotely

Post provisions: Onsite/remote working. Willing to work occasional evenings and weekends (as required)
