Governance & Compliance Executive – Dun Laoghaire (Hybrid)

Location: Dun Laoghaire, Co. Dublin
Salary: €42,629 per annum
Job Type: Full-time, 3-year contract

Key Details

Our client is seeking an experienced Governance & Compliance Executive to join their team in a newly created role.

This is a varied position covering governance, compliance, complaints management, regulatory matters and data protection, working closely with senior management, committees, regulators and legal advisors.

The role also includes line management of one Administration Officer supporting the complaints and compliance function.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee the organisation’s complaints process.
  • Support the Complaints Committee with meetings, reporting, procedures and case management.
  • Assess complaints and identify matters requiring investigation or escalation.
  • Liaise with legal advisors, regulators and key external stakeholders.
  • Support Board and committee governance activities.
  • Ensure compliance with Charity Regulator requirements and governance codes.
  • Maintain compliance policies, procedures and risk frameworks.
  • Act as Data Protection Officer (DPO) and oversee GDPR compliance, including data protection requests.
  • Prepare regulatory and governance reports and submissions.
  • Provide guidance and training to staff on governance and compliance.
  • Line manage the Administration Officer, including 1:1s, objectives and performance reviews.

Requirements

  • Relevant third-level qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in governance, compliance, regulatory, complaints or a related area.
  • Experience managing or supervising staff.
  • Strong understanding of governance, compliance and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience with complaints, investigations or regulatory processes, or strong transferable experience.
  • Good knowledge of GDPR and data protection.
  • Excellent communication, organisational and analytical skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and ability to manage competing priorities.

Desirable: Experience in a membership/not-for-profit organisation, working with regulators or legal professionals, DPO training/certification, or knowledge of the counselling/psychotherapy sector.
