
On behalf of The Dental Council, Lex Consultancy is inviting applications for a permanent position of Executive Officer (EO) grade in Registrations.
SALARY: Applicants will be appointed at the first point of the EO scale - €37,544*
LOCATION: 57 Merrion Square, Dublin 2, D02 EH90. (Hybrid arrangements available)
ANNUAL LEAVE: 23 working days per annum
INTERVIEW: Interviews are expected to take place week commencing 7th July 2025. (You must be available to attend interview)

The successful candidate will manage and guide a team of 7 people, reporting to the Professional Registration Manager. Tasks will include mentoring and training new staff members, reviewing and processing applications, ensuring appropriate timelines are being met through strict management of the registration queue and implementing new processes within the department. The role will also involve liaising with board members, external stakeholders and reporting trends and issues to upper management.
Key Duties
- Ensure the efficient day to day administration of the registration department by managing workload and through appropriate delegation within the department.
- Mentoring and training of new staff members on the registration process and providing guidance on how to read the Professional Qualifications Directive and apply to applications.
- Manage the registration queue and monitor applications to ensure strict EU deadlines are met and service level standards maintained.
- Prepare applications for assessment for applicants qualified outside the EU, but to whom the general systems route applies.
- Manage the implementation of new processes within the department and act on feedback to ensure the efficient running of such.
- Manage the applications from those who have passed the Dental Council statutory exam, to ensure efficient processing.
- Research professional dental qualifications and processes for the dental team where required and record this information.
- Organise and attend the Specialist Training and Registration committee (STAR). Prepare and present specialist applications for assessment by the committee and address any queries arising.
- Attend and participate at Council and Committee meetings.
- Report to and liaise with the Professional Registration Manager on workloads, complex issues and recurring trends.

- Ability to generate, analyse and present accurate metrics and other management information.
- Demonstrated computer literacy with high proficiency in at least Microsoft Office. Specifically, advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel is essential. Confidence to adapt to and work with various in-house IT systems.
- Ability to work collaboratively and effectively as part of a small team environment while maintaining their own initiative and ability to work to independently.
Desirable
- Third level qualification or commitment to personal development.
- Experience working in administration or regulation or similar.
- Previous staff management experience.
- Strong staff training ability.
- Experience in stakeholder engagement, specifically in a legal, compliance and/or regulatory capacity, including experience working in customer service or in providing information to the public and/or other stakeholders.
- Experience interpretating legislation and applying to work practices.
- Demonstration of numerical and data reporting skills are highly desirable.
