Lex Consultancy are delighted to be partnering with a prestigious public sector educational organisation to recruit an Administrator on a 12–24 month fixed-term contract basis.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a small, collaborative team and gain valuable exposure across research administration, governance, communications, and operational support. The successful candidate will play an important role in supporting external research projects, funding applications, governance processes, and wider institute activities.
This role would be particularly suited to candidates who have gained experience within education, higher education, public sector, research, or governance environments, as exposure to these areas would be highly desirable. Candidates with strong administration and coordination experience who are comfortable managing detailed processes, working with multiple stakeholders, and supporting structured projects are also encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the administration and coordination of external research funding projects, including reviewing funding opportunities and assisting with application submissions.
- Monitor upcoming funding calls and ensure relevant researchers are kept informed of opportunities, requirements, and deadlines.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders to share updates and support research teams throughout the funding process.
- Provide governance and administrative support across the organisation, including FOI requests, GDPR-related queries, and reporting requirements.
- Assist with the preparation of governance documentation, meeting papers, agendas, minutes, and follow-up actions.
- Support the coordination of governing board activities across three schools and the wider institute structure, including organising meetings and maintaining accurate records.
- Assist with internal communications, including compiling information for staff newsletters.
- Support PR and communications activities, including content management and social media updates via WordPress.
- Provide front-of-house/reception cover when required.
- Support pension administration and other general HR-related administrative tasks.
- Work closely with the wider team to ensure smooth day-to-day operations and effective stakeholder communication.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in an administrative, coordination, or business support role.
- Experience within an education, public sector, research, or governance environment would be highly desirable.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Excellent attention to detail with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to quickly understand new processes, systems, and technical information.
- Experience or familiarity with areas such as GDPR, FOI, communications, meeting coordination, research funding, or pensions would be advantageous.
- A proactive approach with the ability to work independently while contributing positively to a small team.
- Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to build effective working relationships.
