One of the country’s leading third level institutions is seeking a dedicated Safety Officer to join their Estates & Facilities Team.
The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic team, providing expert advice and overseeing a comprehensive safety management programme. This role is ideal for someone passionate about creating a safe working environment and contributing to the well-being of the university community.

- Salary at Administrative 2 level ( €56,703 - €66,627) at a point in line with current government policy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement university-wide safety policies and procedures.
- Conduct safety audits and inspections to ensure compliance.
- Manage incident reporting and investigation through the online tool.
- Deliver and develop training courses as part of the Safety Office Training Programme.
- Assist in managing asbestos across the estate and liaise with various departments for safety management.
- Provide expert advice on general safety standards and requirements.
- Support the development of safety statements, risk assessments, and emergency response plans.
Essential Requirements:
- Minimum degree level qualification.
- NFQ Level 8 qualification in Safety, Health and Welfare at Work or equivalent.
- Membership of IOSH, working towards Chartered status.
- Experience developing safety policies and procedures, risk assessments and safety statements.
- Experience delivering safety training to and working with all levels of an organisation.
Essential knowledge is required of:
- Managing safety in large, muti-site organisation.
- Regulatory framework related to manual handling, risk assessment, chemicals, general hazards and construction.
- Current safety legislation.
