Legal Case Officer - Complaints and Investigations

My Client, a regulatory body in Dublin 2 is looking to expand their Complaints and Investigations team due to increasing work volumes, and incoming legislation.

Your role will be to essentially to assist that body responsible for considering complaints received by and decide whether there is a prima facie case for the holding of an inquiry before the Fitness to Practise Committee.

The work of a Case Officer is both challenging and rewarding, you will work on the frontline of issues arising in the health system and operate to protect the public on a daily basis. The object of this public body is the protection of the public, and the work of the Case Officer and the wider Complaints and Investigation team is intrinsic to this object.

  • Closing date is Friday, March 18th @5:30pm
  • Salary is €33,553 with 25 days holidays and pension
  • Hybrid working environment

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting and supporting in investigating complaints, conducting interviews, and taking statements from relevant persons, and procuring relevant documentation and reports.
  • Undergoing training both externally and with the supervision of an experienced Case Officer.
  • Communicating with a number of key stakeholders including parties to the complaint, legal advisors and committee members.
  • Interviewing witnesses for the purpose of a written statement (this may include travel within Ireland however most interviews take place at their offices/remotely).
  • Working on own initiative in managing a challenging workload, and preparing documentation for  meetings, drafting case reports, case plans, directions and taking minutes of meetings where required.
  • Demonstrating excellent presentation skills as this role requires presenting cases at committee meetings.
  • Demonstrating excellent drafting skills (this role requires minute writing and drafting of legal letters some of which are complex in nature).

Experience and skills required:

  • Recent significant investigation/case management experience in a similar role, ideally in a professional body, regulatory environment, or legal firm.
  • A legal qualification is desirable but not essential.
  • Experience in the use of appropriate technology, case management systems and other IT applications.
  • Demonstrable ability to manage a significant workload and analyse issues critically in order to operate efficiently.
  • A well-developed knowledge of regulation, excellent communication skills and sound organisational abilities.
  • A proven track record of working effectively as part of a team.
  • A proven track record of engagement with numerous stakeholders.
  • Excellent judgement and the confidence, discipline, and intellectual ability to deliver in a demanding environment.
