Lex Consultancy

Lex Consultancy is recruiting on behalf of our Public Sector client for a Legal Case Officer to join their Complaints and Investigations team on a permanent basis.

This role would suit a strong administrator or someone with a legal background.
For new entrants to the public sector, the salary is offered at the first point on the scale: €33,553.

Different terms and conditions may apply if you are currently a serving civil or public servant.
There are 25 annual leave days, and you will work a 37 hour week.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Assist and support the committee acting as their agent in investigating complaints, conducting interviews and taking statements from relevant persons, and procuring relevant documentation and reports
  • Undergo training with the supervision of an experienced Case Officer as a trainee Case Officer
  • Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills as the role involves speaking to and meeting with parties involved.
  • Undertake to maintain an accurate training log and co-operate with any accreditation process that may be involved
  • Be available to travel within Ireland for any necessary steps in any investigation
  • Work on their own initiative in managing a challenging workload, and prepare documentation for meetings, drafting case reports, case plans, directions and taking minutes of meetings where required
  • Supervise and manage the work of Clerical Officers where appropriate
  • Arrange, schedule and support meetings including taking minutes and assisting the Assistant Principal Officers in drafting of reports.
  • Provide statistics and maintain data storage for reporting purposes.
  • Maintain relevant database and ICT systems.

Required qualifications and experience:

  • Forensic attention to detail and ability to be clear, comprehensive and concise in communications, including reports (both qualitative and quantitative), minutes, website content and publications, file management and use of ICT
  • Have the ability to determine necessary information to be gathered as part of an investigation and preparation of case plans
  • Highly organised approach and strong attention to detail in executing complex tasks and procedures.
  • Work with confidential information and maintain confidentiality
  • Good knowledge and understanding of procedures and activities within a statutory framework
  • Strong interpersonal skills and good work ethic.
  • Ability to work independently, to demonstrate initiative and to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to flex and adapt to changing demands, manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Available as required, from time to time to work outside of the core hours listed above.
  • Available as required, from time to time to travel as part of the role and outside of core working hours.
  • A 'can do' attitude.

Qualifications:
Applicants for the post of Case Officer at Administrative Officer level must have at least two years satisfactory experience in an administrative role within a professional body, a health service provider or similar organisation. A legal qualification is desirable but not essential. Applicants must be able to demonstrate well developed interpersonal, communication and IT skills and be prepared to participate in continued professional development.
