Our client, a regulatory body based in Dublin 2, is currently seeking an administrative assistant to provide support to their Fitness to Practise Committee. The salary on offer is €31,384. Our client offers a hybrid working model.

The role of the administrative assistant is primarily to assist the Fitness to Practise Manager in the scheduling of inquiries, impanelling of Committees, attending at inquiries and keeping an accurate record of what occurred and thereafter, where appropriate, the preparation of briefs to include all particulars concerning the inquiry for consideration when deciding on sanction.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Report directly to the Fitness to Practise Manager on matters pertaining to the Fitness to Practise Committee and at times the Monitoring Committee and Health Committee’s functions;
  • Provide administrative support to the Head of Fitness to Practise and Fitness to Practise Manager in respect to the work undertaken by the Fitness to Practise Committee
  • Assist and provide support to Head of Fitness to Practise and Fitness to Practise Manager in their preparation for Committee meetings, to include the preparation of documentation for Committee Meetings, scanning documentation, research and compilation of briefs;
  • Arrange, schedule and support inquiries or meetings to include attendance and the keeping of accurate notes and any other work arising;
  • Meet and communicate with members of the public/profession;
  • Draft and type correspondence;
  • Maintain relevant database and ICT systems used within the section;
  • Participate in allocated Project/ Working Groups;
  • Maintain data storage for reporting purposes;
  • Undertake any other duties and responsibilities as may assigned by the Medical Council from time to time.

Required qualifications, experience, and essential characteristics:

  • Organised approach and strong attention to detail in assisting with complex tasks and procedures;
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing demands, manage competing priorities and meet deadlines;
  • Confidence when communicating with a wide range of people both inside and outside the organisation;
  • Organised approach in managing information, including file management and use of ICT and have experience of and be proficient in the use of suite of software used in Office 365 package;
  • Ability to work as part of a team;
  • Ability to be clear, comprehensive and concise in both written and oral communications;
  • To work with confidential information and maintain confidentiality.


  • At least 1 year of satisfactory experience in an administrative role within a professional body, a health service provider or similar organisation is essential.
  • 2 years’ experience would be desirable.
  • A third level qualification is desirable but not essential.
  • A third-level qualification in law is highly advantageous.
  • Applicants must be able to demonstrate well developed interpersonal, communication and IT skills.
