Lex Consultancy

This person will be responsible for managing and leading the finance team, ensuring finance partners the business to support key strategic objectives. The key aspects of the role include producing annual and monthly financial statements, managing audits and ensuring regulatory compliance, tax matters, cashflow reporting and management, creation of annual budgets. The candidate will assist the CFO in the ongoing identification and continuous development and improvement of internal practices and financial systems to improve operational efficiencies and strategic output.

The Role

In this role you will be responsible for

  • Ensuring internal control systems and electronic finance systems are properly designed, fully functioning, and sufficiently developed and maintained on an ongoing basis to ensure complete and accurate recording of transactions, the integrity of financial reporting, and the safeguarding of assets belonging both to the firm's clients, and to the firm itself.
  • Ensuring cash management is optimised, driving firm-wide efficiencies including WIP and Debtor days. Managing the credit control team, supervising the WIP/debtor meetings and coordinating the production and reporting against billing and collections targets.
  • Providing comprehensive financial and management information across the firm.
  • Preparing the firm's annual budget and review on an ongoing basis (budget v actual) with the Executive Committee and practice groups.
  • Managing and developing appropriate reports to assist the firm's meeting of its financial objectives and targets.
  • Managing all financial reporting including monthly management and annual statutory accounts and regulatory reporting (Law Society and year-end).
  • Liaising with the firm’s Reporting Accountant and Auditors in respect of all annual audits relating to all entities owned by the Partners.
  • Ensuring compliance with the Solicitors Accounts Regulations and assist the firm’s Reporting Accountant in respect of the Compliance Partner's annual declaration to the Law Society.
  • Managing all taxation reporting and compliance including the procurement of the firm’s annual Tax Clearance Certificate.
  • Ensuring that the firm always has optimal cash flow to meet its responsibilities, projecting into the future as necessary.

The Person

  • You have 5-8 years senior management experience, ideally gained in a large professional services firm/partnership, regulated entity or in industry.
  • You have excellent oral and written communication skills, including clear and concise report writing abilities and the ability to draw insights from the data to communicate complex financial issues to stakeholders.
  • You are driven to continuously improve ways of working, learn the business of law and innovate technology and processes to optimise firm-wide performance
  • You have stakeholder management skills in influencing decision making by senior management and experience of working with stakeholders to develop strong financial understanding across the business.
  • You are motivated by a drive for performance excellence to achieve the best commercial outcomes.

  • You actively listen, communicate, and share information – always prepared and fully engaged.

  • You have a proven record of identifying, initiating, developing, leading, and implementing enhanced systems, financial reporting, and information flows.
  • You have experience of using financial information systems effectively and strong computer literacy.
  • You have a strong track record of successful financial leadership.
  • You have 3E system experience (desirable).

Salary €80,000 plus full benefits package. Hybrid role. 12-month fixed term contract initially
