Finance Manager - Public Sector - 12 Month Contract

At Lex Consultancy we are currently recruiting on behalf of a prominent public sector organisation with South Dublin offices. They have an urgent requirement for a Finance Manager to join their team taking up a 12 month contract.

Reporting to the Group Financial Controller, the purpose of this role will be to oversee the organisation's People Payments team. The successful candidate will take responsibility for the following:

  • Operate and manage 5 staff payroll processes including monthly and fortnightly payroll processes which are managed by 3rd party suppliers
  • Liaising with 3rd party suppliers on the operation of the various payroll processes, integration of files and data and dealing with any day to day operational matters, queries and issues
  • Provision of standard and ad hoc financial information and reports to the business Finance & HR Managers on their divisional personnel related operating costs
  • Liaising with HR on contractual matters including the nature of contractual relationships including employment, independent contractors and contributor status
  • Ensure tax compliance in relation to all people payments in line with VAT, PAYE and all other applicable taxes
  • Ensuring overtime, allowances and other payments are paid in an appropriate and timely manner and in accordance with policies and procedures
  • Management, oversee and process payments in relation to Travel & Subsistence claims
  • Manage a team of 5 people in the day to day operation of the function

To be considered for this role, you will be available to commit to a 12 month contract with an immediate start. You will also meet the following requirements:

  • The successful candidate will ideally be a qualified accountant  at least 5 years post qualified experience in a finance department
  • Previous financial experience in payroll and supplier payments is desirable
  • Experience in using computerised accounts systems
  • Excellent Excel and Microsoft Word skills
  • Strong Considerable experience in the preparation of monthly management reports to tight deadlines
  • Good communication skills and ability to operate and communicate financial issues to non – finance, mainly sales personnel
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to motivate sales people who may not report directly to you to perform tasks
  • Prior experience in dealing with media agencies would be an advantage
